William J Welch III, aged 63, passed away on November 1, 2024. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Billy (Gus), as he was affectionately known, was born on November 26, 1960. He grew up in Amesbury MA, and was a graduate of Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School class of 1979. His career led him to Lucent Technologies in North Andover, MA where he worked for many years until his retirement. Billy was a hard-working man and, even in physically difficult times, he continued to work long hours.
But more than anything, Billy loved his family. When his nephews were young, he would spend hours with them and their friends in the backyard playing wiffle ball, hockey, and soccer. He was an avid sports fan, and he loved kids.
Billy is survived by his father William J Welch II of Amesbury, his brother Tom Welch of Amesbury, his sister Kathy Welch of Seabrook NH, his nephew Andrew Welch of Bridgewater, his nephew Joshua Welch and his wife Breann of Amesbury, his great nephew Oliver of Amesbury and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara and his wife Mary. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held this Wednesday November 6 from 5-7 pn at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral home 118 Friend St. in Amesbury. A graveside service will be held the following morning Thursday Nov. 7 at 11:00 am in the Union Cemetery in Amesbury. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
