William J. Welch II at 91
November 4, 1934 - May 5, 2026
Bill, as he was most commonly known, was born in Newburyport, MA, to the late William E. Welch and Beatrice (Wilson) Welch. He was a 1952 graduate of Newburyport High School. Bill was a hardworking man who spent his decades-long career as a tool and die maker in North Andover, where he later retired from what was then AT&T.
Bill was very hands-on and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother. It would be difficult to find anyone who had an unkind word to say about him. He was a truly genuine and loyal soul who will be deeply missed by so many.
Bill is survived by his son, Tom Welch of Exeter, NH; his daughter, Kathy Welch of Seabrook, NH; his grandsons, Andrew Welch of Merrimac, MA, and Joshua Welch and his wife, Breann, of Amesbury, MA; his great-grandson, Oliver of Amesbury, MA; his sisters, Virginia Walsh of Rye, NH, and Kathleen Prichard of Billerica, MA; his brother, Jack Welch and his wife, Candace, of Nottingham, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara (Mosley) Welch; his son, William J. Welch III; his brother, Arthur Welch; and his sisters, Barbara Hodges and Mary Sayward.
Calling hours for Bill will be held this coming Tuesday May 12, 2026 from 5-7 pm at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St. in Amesbury. His funeral service will be held the following morning at the funeral home at 11:00 am followed by burial in the Union Cemetery in Amesbury.
