William Brown Obituary

William A. “Bill” Brown (83)

(March 18, 1942 – January 24, 2026)

William A. “Bill” Brown, resident of Jamaica Bay in Boynton Beach, Fl and formerly of Amesbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with his family by his side.  Bill (“Pops”) is survived by his loving wife Laureen, sons Dave (Stacy), and Mike Brown, Scott (Kate) Gosselin, Jill Gosselin, Jay (Debra) Gosselin, brother Walter (Sandy) Brown, Jr., brother Dave (Sandy) Brown, grandchildren  Janell, Jocelin, Jack, Kurt, Olivia, Lia, and Ryan, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Bill was born in Amesbury, MA on March 18, 1942, to the late Walter and Ruth (Magowan) Brown, Sr.  He was also pre-deceased by his sister Betty Ann Beane. Bill graduated from Amesbury High School in 1960 and was a standout three sport athlete in football, hockey, and track.  After graduating from high school, Bill attended Maine Central Institute and Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA.  After trade school, Bill honorably served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Bill worked as a Project Manager for John Hancock in Boston for many years, but he would most like to be remembered as a devoted husband to Laureen, a wonderful Dad, the best Pops to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a special friend to many.  Bill loved to fly his plane, spend quality time and “island hop” on their boat (the Halcyon), go bluefin tuna fishing with his Dad and brothers, and watch football. He greatly enjoyed golfing and spending Happy Hour with family and friends during retirement.  Bill’s zest for life, quick wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed. He never met a stranger and would take great joy in making people laugh.

Memorial gifts in Bill’s name may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or through their website at stjude.org.  Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.  Bill’s family would like to thank the many friends who have generously provided meals and donated their time in support of Bill and his family.  The family would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers who have provided exceptional care to Bill and Laureen during this time.
