Ronald L. Jones

October 5, 1948 — May 17, 2025

Amesbury - Amesbury - Ronald Leslie Jones passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025 at the age of 76. Ron was born in Baltimore, Maryland to William Charles Jones and Maggie Jo Estes. Ron spent his early years in Tampa, where he eventually met and fell in love with his wife, Marlene Lee. The two welcomed two daughters, Jennifer Tonani and Laura Robinson, before moving up north to Amesbury, Massachusetts in September 1987. 

As the youngest of three brothers, Ron brought a mischievous, light-hearted energy into any room he walked into. Constantly cracking jokes, sharing stories, and spreading smiles, he had a rare gift for making people feel seen and welcome. As an avid lover of photography, Ron spent much of his spare time taking photos of nature, capturing and sharing moments of beauty around him. Ron was also an active member in the St. James Episcopal Church, which he often referred to as his second home and extended family.

While rarely serious for too long, Ron never wavered in his love and support for his family. Whenever needed, whether it was picking up one of his nine grandchildren from school (Dennis Mitchell Jr., Shelby Stubbs, Skylar Heald, Lucas Tonani, Mia Tonani, Sienna Tonani, Gabriella Tonani, Brianna Ford, Josef Ford), helping run errands, or offering sage advice through his stories over the years, Ron was always there, consistently showing up without fail. 

Ron is survived by his eldest brother, William (Bill) Jones; his daughters; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren (Thomas Heald and Ivory Cote). His death was preceded by his middle brother, Fred Jones, as well as his wife, Marlene Jones—their connection weathering many seasons of life side by side, built over the years by their shared love for their family.

A service will take place on May 31 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Episcopal Church (120 Main Street, Amesbury, MA 01913), followed by a gathering in the church hall to celebrate his life. All who knew and loved Ron are welcome, just as he would have wanted.
