Ronald Gagnon Obituary

Ronald Gagnon, 90, of Amesbury, MA, passed away March 9, 2025, at Anna Jaques Hospital ,after a period of declining health.Born in Amesbury on January 12, 1935, he was the son of Eva and Joseph Gagnon. Ron was aresident of Amesbury for most of his life. He attended St. Joseph’s School and graduated fromAmesbury High School, class of 1953. Ron enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 1957, and hewas honorably discharged in 1963. He was the owner and operator of Kengo Gas Company formany years. Ron was a dynamic volunteer in the Amesbury community. When his son Michaelwas younger, Ron helped with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was actively involved in theAmesbury Improvement Club, and in the Amesbury Lions’ Club, particularly with the eyeglasses program that provides glasses to those in need. Ron loved the beach, Johnny Cash, good food, and a good rum and Coke. He was a golfer, a scuba diver, a hiker, and an avid skier. Hewas a member of the Penguins Ski Lodge, and a member of the 4000-Footer club, for hikers whoclimbed New Hampshire mountains above 4000 feet in elevation.


Ron was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Joe Fontaine, and his nephew David Fontaine.He is survived by his daughters Christine Piper (husband, Graham) and Jill Keaton (husbandJim), his son Michael Gagnon (wife Carol), his grandchildren Brianna and Dillon Gagnon andMackenzie and Becky Keaton, a great-grandson Carson Behler, his nieces Debbie Bourassa (husband Bill) and Donna Page (husband Ken), two grand-nieces Kelly Foley and Stacy Ruddand their children. Ron is survived by his cousins Judy and Bill Newcomb and Ken and DianeSimpson and their families, who managed Ron’s care and medical needs for the last three years. Ron was an integral part of the family of his long-time partner, Carol Marouthis. He and shetraveled extensively to Peru, China, India, Australia and much of Europe. Carol’s familyincludes her daughters Kathie and Robin (husband Joe Michaud), grandchildren Demetrious,Gabrielle, Demetria, and Davis, and great-grandson Rhodes. Ron had a large extended familyand many friends.


Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St.


Joseph’s Cemetery in Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the


Amesbury Lions’ Club c/o Marie Veilleux 14 Depot Rd. Hampton Falls, NH 03844.


Special thanks go out to the administrators and staff at Elizabeth Calsey House in Amesbury for


the thoughtful and empathetic care they provided for Ron. They remember him as the “life of


the party.” Ron was loved and respected. He will be missed by many. Ron would close by


saying, “Over and Out!”
