Robert E. “Minsky” Levesque
September 3, 1933 – October 2, 2025
Robert E. “Minsky” Levesque, of Amesbury, left his earthly home peacefully at his home on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving children. He has now joined his beloved wife, Doris (Burke) Levesque, who predeceased him on December 11, 2024.
Born on September 3, 1933, Robert was affectionately known to many as “Minsky.” To the neighborhood children, he was “Uncle Bob” — always ready with a joke, a ball game, or a dive into the pool. His fun-loving spirit and kind heart and keen sense of humor made him a favorite among friends and family alike.
Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force for six years and went on to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he dedicated 34 years of service. Upon retirement, he and his bride, Doris, spent many joyful years traveling to Florida with their close Amesbury friends, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
A passionate sports fan, Robert often shared stories from his days on the AHS football team — especially the time they beat Newburyport 99–6, a memory he would have loved to be included here. He and Doris shared a deep love of Boston sports, cheering on their favorite teams together.
Robert was also a talented gardener whose green thumb brought much success to his home. He often reminded his family that gardening wasn’t just about growing food — it was about sharing the harvest with friends and family.
More than anything, Robert and Doris built a life rooted in love, family, and kindness. Their devotion to one another and to those around them will remain their greatest legacy. They were a shining example of love.
Robert is survived by his children, Gayle Hamilton and her partner Kevin Groden, Denise McCoy and her husband Kevin McCoy, and his son Stephen Levesque. He was predeceased by his son, Bobby Levesque in 2013 and his daughter-in-law, Patricia Levesque, in 2020. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Jason Lewis.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Julie Walton, Jamie Haberland, Kevin Levesque, Sara Levesque, Cristopher Adams, Michael Levesque, and Robbie Levesque, and was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Levesque. He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren — Charlotte Walton, Sam Peters, Viv Haberland, Olive Haberland, Kole Haberland, Isabella Haberland, Austin Haberland, Shyla Levesque, and Lily Levesque — as well as the family’s beloved cat, Daisy Mae (“Babykins”).
A Funeral Mass celebrating the lives of both Robert and Doris will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10am at St. Andre de Bessette Church 2 School Street, Amesbury, MA followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Sylvan Street, one of their favorite places.
In lieu of flowers, donations in their memory may be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, Salisbury, MA. https://mrfrs.org/
