Raymond Drouin Obituary

Raymond Emilien Drouin, 76, of Amesbury, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 20, 2026 at High Pointe Hospice after a brief illness. Ray was born in Amesbury to Adrian and Helen (Dawson) Drouin, on July 19, 1950. Along with his two older sisters, Sandy and Theresa, he enjoyed summers in Maine on Mousam Lake during his childhood and into adulthood. Ray was a 1968 graduate of Amesbury High School, 1972 graduate of Plymouth State College (now University), and a 1979 graduate of Northern Essex Community College where he earned his RN. He worked at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport for well over 30 years, having been ahead of his time as a male in the nursing profession. Ray also received his graduate degree from Northeastern during this time.

Ray lived a life defined by curiosity, collecting passport stamps from dozens of countries as an avid world traveler. He briefly lived and worked in Hawaii in the 1980s and owned vacation properties in Quebec, Florida and Maine at different points in his life. He never forgot his family’s French Canadian roots and was extremely proud of his lineage. He continued to stay in contact with the beloved Vachon family of Quebec.

When Ray wasn’t traveling, he was taking care of his dear sister, Sandy, watching Downton Abbey or spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his sister, Sandy Drouin, and close family and friends in Massachusetts, Maine, and Quebec.

A private graveside service will be in the near future.
