Paul Joseph Cote Obituary

Paul Joseph Cote passed away peacefully at his home in Amesbury, MA, on January 12, 2025, at the age of 70 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 14, 1954 in Haverhill, MA, Paul was the third of twelve siblings born to the late George and Marie Yvonne (Roger) Cote. His family moved to Amesbury in 1960 when he was six years old, and he remained deeply connected to the community throughout his life. A proud graduate of Amesbury High School in 1972, Paul went on to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1985. After his military service, he returned to Amesbury and began a long career at Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, where he worked from 1985 until his retirement in 2021.

Paul shared a loving life with his wife of 20 years, Gail (Patch Lacourse) Cote. Together for 33 years, they built a blended family that brought him immense joy. He is survived by his children: Paul Cote Jr., Tracy Cote, stepdaughters Christine Gopi (Praveen) and Tracy Lacourse; grandchildren Myranda Cote-Bates (Dustin), Devon Cote, Dominic Stoltzfus, and Maya Gopi; and great-granddaughter Azlynn Bates. He also leaves behind eight siblings: Mary Kathleen Coco (Freddie) of Kingston, NH, George "Ricky" Cote (Debra) of Huntsville, AL, Elaine Walker (Robert) of Amesbury, Christopher Cote (Jean) of Atkinson, NH, Barbara LaValley (Richard) of Newton, NH, Eugene Cote (Alisa) of Stratham, NH, Stephen Cote (Tammy) Mansfield, OH, and David Cote of N. Hampton, NH; as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Gerard and Normand Roger; a sister, Marie Anne Yvonne Leavitt; niece Christine Cote; nephews Jeremy Spurling and Eric Balsamo; and his beloved dog Samantha.

Paul was an active member of the Amesbury community, contributing to town government in the 1980s and participating in organizations such as the Amesbury Jets, Northeast Dart Association, and Revolution Dart League. He enjoyed bowling, backyard volleyball games, pool parties, working on cars with his son, and taking meticulous care of his yard.
