Norman Cynewski, Sr. Obituary

AMESBURY – Norman R. Cynewski, Sr., 90, passed away at his home on November 1st.

Norman was born on July 14th, 1935 to Clara L. (Asplund) and Frank N. Cynewski, Sr. He was born and raised in Amesbury, a community he cared for deeply.

He attended Amesbury Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. In his youth, he worked at the Amesbury Foundry Company, spent time on the assembly line at the Merrimac Hat Company, and helped his family at Amesbury Paint & Hardware. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Norman married the love of his life, Lorraine M. (Fowler) in 1961, and they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage together. She was his entire world, and they loved each other fully until the end.

He was employed at Raytheon for 35 years, where he worked his way up from the mailroom to become a contract administrator. While working at Raytheon and raising a young family, Norman attended night school at Merrimack College, earning a degree in business administration.

Norman lived a full and active life. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, building birdhouses in his workshop, playing cards, camping, and his Dallas Cowboys. But more than anything else in this life, Norman loved his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember him as Grampy.

He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine; his parents; siblings Richard L. Cynewski, Frank N. Cynewski, Jr., and Betty J. Cynewski; brother-in-law Eugene “Sonny” Pierce; and daughter-in-law Althea Cynewski.

Norman is survived by his sister Lois Pierce; his children Norman Cynewski, Jr., Steven Cynewski and wife Kathleen, and Debbie Hutchinson and husband Mark; six grandchildren: Jared Cynewski and wife Brittany, Lindsey Cynewski and partner Chris, Bryan Eaton and partner Chianti, Troy Eaton, Eric Eaton and wife Nicole, and Jordan Cynewski; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Norman’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
