Naldo D. Mammarelli Obituary

Naldo D. "Nardi" Mammarelli, age 97, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Born on May 1, 1927, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Nardi lived a full and vibrant life that spanned nearly a century—one marked by deep family ties, entrepreneurial spirit, and an enduring zest for life. The son of Vincenzo and Loretta (DiLuzio) Mammarelli, Nardi grew up in Springfield and later raised his own family in Wilbraham. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Catherine (Roukas) Mammarelli. Together they built a life rooted in love, tradition, and shared joy.

Nardi was the proud father of three daughters: Laura Mammarelli, Mary Lord, and Diane Mega. His legacy continues through five grandchildren—Sarah Lord, Ben Lord, Brendan Meryman, Evan Mega, and Tyler Mega—and four great- grandchildren: Camden Walton, Jackson Lord, Orion Meryman, and Skyler Meryman. His eyes lit up with pride watching his great-grandson’s freshman year of basketball —a moment that bridged generations and brought him immense joy. A man who truly enjoyed life’s offerings—whether work or play—Nardi found fulfillment in both his professional achievements and personal passions. As president of Art Cement Products in Wilbraham, he left a lasting mark on the architectural landscape. His company’s concrete products can be seen on iconic structures such as the John F. Kennedy Federal Building in Boston and the restored FW Woolworth Building in New York City. Beyond business success, Nardi was known for his love of golf-enjoying many years of golf as a member of Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow MA, and skiing— hitting the slopes both locally and across Europe well into his later years. He relished travel adventures and cherished time spent with friends and family. A classic Italian grampa to the core, he had a fondness for Montepulciano red wine (and Stella’s), a stubborn streak that never faded with age, and a wit that kept everyone around him smiling. In recent years, Nardi resided at Atria at Merrimack Place in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Even as time slowed him down physically, his mind remained sharp —connecting deeply with his grandchildren’s entrepreneurial pursuits and offering wisdom shaped by decades of experience. At 97 years old, Nardi didn’t just witness history—he embodied it. From the Great Depression to the digital age, he lived through profound change while remaining grounded in timeless values: hard work, loyalty to family, pride in heritage, and an unshakable sense of humor. Now reunited with Catherine—the love of his life—Nardi has completed a remarkable journey that touched countless lives along the way. We’ll forever miss his sharp, humorous observations, his stories told over glasses of wine or coffee at the kitchen table, and the quiet strength that anchored our family through generations.
