Maryellen Bowman Obituary

Maryellen Bowman of Haverhill, MA, passed away on March 10, 2026. She was born in Amesbury, MA, on December 15, 1944, the daughter of Frederick O. and Minnie Bowman.


She grew up in Amesbury and worked in shoe factories in both Amesbury and Haverhill. Maryellen never married or had children but was devoted to her many nieces and nephews.


She enjoyed bingo, computer games, and watching VHS movies and television. Maryellen lived with family for most of her life and, following the passing of her sister Joan in 2015, began living independently with the support of family and friends. She formed many friendships at Phoenix Row and will be greatly missed.


She is survived by her sister Irene (Bowman) of Maggie Valley, North Carolina; her brother Donald Bowman of Cherokee, North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Joan (Bowman) Lambert, Frances (Bowman) Martin, Frederick Bowman, Freddie Bowman, and Richard “Dicky” Bowman.


Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., followed by a funeral from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at E.V. Jutras and Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA 01913.
