Lawrence J Quinn Sr, 95, passed away March 25, 2025. He was born in Amesbury, MA on June 28, 1929 the son of James and Agnes (Petty) Quinn. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammer School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 16, served on the USS Shea and was a WWII Veteran. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Doherty) Quinn who passed away after 61 years of marriage in 2011. For years he served as a Lieutenant in the Amesbury auxiliary police department, as well as being one of the first policemen to patrol via motorcycle. He worked at Atwood & Morrill as a Certified Welder in Salem MA, retiring after 32 years. He also worked weekends for Johnson Lumber, Eastern Lumber, and CP Building Supply installing Aluminum doors and windows.
He was an active member of Holy Family Church in Amesbury.
He is survived by his children, Kathryn, Doreen (Bryce), and Larry Jr (Carol). He has 8 grandchildren Derrick, Justin, Renee, Kaitlin, Margaret, Meaghan, Samantha, and Jeremiah, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings as well as his daughter Susan Quinn-Yelle (2015), and grandson Lawrence J. Quinn III (2023).
Visiting hours are Thursday, April 3rd from 5 to 7pm at E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home 118 Friend St.in Amesbury. A graveside service will be on Friday, April 4th at 10am at St. Joseph’s
