James Larson Obituary

James William Larson, born on April 26, 1951, in Winchester, MA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories. A resident of Burlington, Haverhill, and Amesbury, MA, James will be remembered for his dedication to family, country, and community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Larson, and his devoted daughters, Christa Larson and Tiffany Purington. James shared a special bond with his son-in-law, Troy Purington, and was a proud grandfather to Tucker and Parker Purington. He also found joy in the company of his "grand-puppy," Sadie the pug, who was always by his side.

James served honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, working as a dog handler, a role that reflected his deep love for animals. After his military service, he built a career as an auto mechanic at Firestone, where his expertise and hard work were admired.

A passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, James loved sports. He enjoyed being part of a bowling team in Haverhill, where he made lifelong friends. Camping trips and family vacations brought him great joy, creating lasting memories with those he loved.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, James devoted his time volunteering at the MSPCA, where his compassionate nature and love for animals made a meaningful impact.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a wake to be held at E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury, MA, on Monday, November 4, from 5-7 PM. A funeral Mass will follow at St. Andree Bessette Parish in Amesbury on Tuesday, November 5, at 10:30 AM. James will be laid to rest with military honors at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, on November 5 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in James's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project to honor his service and dedication to fellow veterans.
