Irene Levesque, 90, passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2026, after a brief illness. She was the beloved widow of Robert Levesque. They were married on October 30, 1960, and shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Amesbury, Massachusetts, on June 26, 1935, Irene was one of eight children of Cecilia (Marsolais) and Arthur Daigle. She attended Amesbury schools and worked for many years in local shoe factories before retiring from Greenleaf Nursing Home.
She is survived by her sister, Doris O’Brien (William); her godson, William O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Yvonne Mason (Paul), Wilford Daigle, Alice Bungard (Robert), George Daigle (Arlene), Francis “Pete” Daigle (Carol), and Theresa Hayden (Richard).
Irene and Bob shared a love of travel, especially enjoying bus tours to local casinos. Their home was also well known for having the best Christmas decorations each year.
Irene had a joyful spirit and truly embraced life. She will be remembered for her warm heart and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.
Though she had no children, she leaves behind many relatives, friends, and loved ones who will always remember her sweetness, generosity, and the happiness she brought into their lives.
The family extends special thanks to her great-niece Nancy Kimball for the care she provided during Irene’s illness; to her nephew Dennis Mason, who was like a son to her; and to her favorite mailman, Mike Boisselle, whom she affectionately called her “Sunshine”, for their special friendship over the years.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held on April 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA followed by a graveside service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Amesbury
