Arthur B. Tebbetts Obituary

Arthur B. Tebbetts, 82, of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. Born on November 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward and Rita (Lambert) Tebbetts.

A lifelong resident of Newburyport, Arthur was a familiar and friendly face in the community. He was best known for his daily walks to Angie’s Diner on Pleasant Street, where the staff treated him like family and always knew his order by heart. Angie’s was more than a diner to Arthur—it was a place of connection, routine, and warmth.

Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later retiredfrom Lucent Technologies. He was also a devoted fan of the Boston Celtics, rarely seen without his Celtics hat. “The Celtics are my team,” he would often say, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.

Above all, Arthur cherished time with his family. He was known for his quiet generosity—often slipping his grandchildren and great-grandchildren a twenty-dollar bill with a smile. His kindness, sense of humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Arthur was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughters, Denise and her husband Walter Slevoski, and Tracey and her husband Rob Lapre; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Peyton, Jake, and Zachary; his great-grandchildren, Lilly, Zachary Jr., Levi, and Carson; and his older brother, George. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Angie’s Diner and the residents of the James Steam Mill, who became like extended family to Arthur through their kindness and companionship. They also wish to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Brigham Manor for their compassionate care in his final days. Arthur will be remembered for his loyalty, loving his family and enjoying the little things in life.
