Amanda Louise LaPlante of Salisbury, MA., age 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 9, 2024.
Amanda was born in El Paso, TX. on March 31, 1968. Both her parents served in the U.S. Air Force therefore much of her youth was spent traveling. Amanda and her mother eventually settled in Amesbury, MA. where she met the LaPlante family and her husband Gary.
Gary and Amanda have been inseparable since their marriage in 1991. Together, Amanda and Gary worked tirelessly to build their home in Salisbury, MA where they raised their son and daughter and touched the lives of so many others on Baker Road and beyond. Amanda spent several years working as a volunteer coordinator at Anna Jaques Hospital and held a few other roles in the medical field, however, her most prominent role was Mother. If you knew Amanda, you knew that she had the biggest heart and was “Mom” to so many. Amanda loved her children fiercely and took pride in everything they did. Over the years she supported their every hobby and passion seemingly effortlessly, from driving them all around New England for paintball, dirt biking, horseback riding, hockey, softball and baseball, to cooking big meals every night when they were young. Amanda always put the needs of others first. She showed everyone love, warmth, kindness, and a bit of sass of course.
Amanda was an incredible listener, enjoyed reading, and valued quality time with the people she loved. She was an amazing Mother, Wife and Friend. She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed by many.
Amanda was predeceased by her mother Roberta J Smith, and leaves behind her devoted husband of 33 years, Gary LaPlante, her daughter Jillian LaPlante, son Matthew LaPlante, and his wife Jana. She will be missed dearly by her mother & father-in-law Raymond and Jeanne LaPlante as well as her nieces; Jaime LaPlante, Jessica Ladd, Kristy Trefrey, Rebecca Pelletier, nephew Casey Pelletier, many brother and sisters-in-law, and her beloved fur babies.
She also leaves behind many friends such as the D’Agostino and Guilmette families whom she loved dearly and considered family.
At her request, there will be no public calling hours. Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Josephs Cemetery in Amesbury, MA. The family will also be hosting a private celebration of life at a later date.
As an animal lover, she would have asked that you please consider a donation to the ASPCA in her memory.
