Adele Volta Obituary

Adele Rose Volta of Salisbury, MA, and a long-time resident of Newburyport, MA, passed away on Sept 14, 2024, at the age of 81 after battling a long illness. Adele was born in East Boston Mass to Joseph Volta and Rose Tarsi Volta. From a young age Adele pursued diverse interests. She was a gifted artist, singer, dancer, yogini and philosophical writer. Adele danced ballet and country western, sang opera, blues and in choirs. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College with a degree in Philosophy and Mathematics. Adele remained a lifelong learner with insatiable curiosity and was always reading several books at one time.

In her early career she worked at Harvard Medical School, Draper Labs and HigherOrder Software. She went on to acquire a certification in Massage Therapy and pursued a spiritual counseling practice. Adele was very intuitive and spiritual. She developed her own style of massage that integrated intuitive healing energy work. She developed and taught her own workshops and lectures on healing and spirituality. She created an email prayer line for her community and maintained it for many years. For over 10 years Adele was a professor of yoga and spiritual studies at NorthernEssex Community College. She impacted many students, many of which stayed in touch with her after graduating. She loved to teach and developed her own unique course work for her classes. Adele loved to paint and to garden. She has produced many paintings, some beingdisplayed and sold in art galleries and boutiques in the Newburyport area. She transformed a rough backyard into a garden oasis at her Newburyport home. She created a nice display of plants and flowers in the garden beds and thick green grass. She always had a nice display of plants inside her home. Adele was a big advocate for equal rights, animal rights and helping the homeless. She was a childless cat lady who often owned a cat or two. She donated generously to many charitable causes including those supporting wild and domesticated animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Habitat forHumanity, The National Wildlife Foundation or The Humane Society.

Adele is survived by her brother-in-law Fran Cardosa of Londonderry, NH, Nieces Jean-Marie Goday of Milford, NH, Leslie LoRusso of Medford, MA, Brenda Gawrys of Manchester, NH and Nephew Mark Cardosa of Wakefield, MA. Her Sister, Marie Volta Cardoza had predeceased her.

Adele had many kind and caring caregivers over the course of her illness that allowed her to stay in her home where she could listen to her music and be in a familiar and peaceful environment. Some included Robin Parks, Loraine Chase, John Crowley, Anita Musante McMahon, Rebecca Robinson, Zoe McKay and Randee Michaud.

We owe much gratitude to her Naturopathic Doctor, Doctor Edward Ellis. He never gave up and always continued to research and provide new ideas.
